Understanding Neurologic Injury and Traumatic Encephalopathy (UNITE) Brain Bank is the largest tissue repository in the world focused on traumatic brain injury and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE). It collects central nervous system tissue from donors with CTE and a history of repetitive head impacts, including contact sport athletes and military personnel. The UNITE Brain Bank is located at the Boston University CTE Center in Boston, Massachusetts. It was formerly the “VA-BU-CLF Brain Bank”.

The mission of the UNITE Brain Bank is to drive high-impact, innovative research on CTE and to improve the understanding of the long-term consequences of repetitive head impacts, with the goal of advancing diagnosis, treatment, and care for individuals affected by traumatic brain injury and CTE.
